COVID-19 Update
As of March 19, 2020

The Kamloops Youth Soccer Association (KYSA) is committed to providing our members with updated information on the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation and how it relates to soccer programming.

Please check your email or our website for new updates as they become available.

Current Situation
Currently all sanctioned soccer activity has been suspended by Canada Soccer. This includes referee and coach clinics and all team events. At this time, we do not know the length of the suspension. KYSA is taking direction from BC Soccer and we will share updates with our members as we receive them.

Short-term (April)
All KYSA programming scheduled up to and including April 30th, 2020 will be cancelled/postponed. Where possible, programming will be moved to a later date.

Mid-term (May and beyond)
For programs and activities that are scheduled to occur in May 2020 and beyond, we are continuing to work and plan as if they will proceed. We will provide a further update in mid-April as we receive more information on the situation.

KYSA hopes to be able to provide a soccer season following the COVID-19 situation.

The KYSA office will be closed to the public. Communication will remain open by phone at 250-376-2750 or email to kysa@telus.net

The health and safety of our members is of utmost importance, and we appreciate your patience during this unprecedented time.

Sincerely,

Candace Dodson-Willis
President, KYSA

COACHES MEETINGS & COURSES

Coaches Meetings

Coaches meetings for KYSA’s Community Spring League teams get underway Monday, March 2nd. All meetings take place at the KYSA Office (upstairs meeting room) on McArthur Island. If you are unsure of your meeting time, please contact the KYSA office at kysa@telus.net or 250-376-2750.

Interested in coaching this season? We would love to hear from you! Reach out to the KYSA Office for more information.

Coach Education

All KYSA coaches are required to meet a minimum standard of training and education. KYSA covers the cost of these courses and our dedicated volunteer coaches put in extra hours to ensure they are trained before the season starts!

Each head coach is certified to the age-appropriate level through a BC Soccer Coaching Course. In addition, coaches take the Respect in Sport course for Activity Leaders and complete a course on Concussion safety.

This season’s coaching courses get underway this weekend:

Fundamentals (U7/8) – March 6 and March 27
Learn to Train (U9-12) – March 7 and March 28
Soccer for Life (U13+) – March 8 and March 29
