Community Spring League

 

The KYSA Community Spring League is for players of any skill level. The season runs from April through June for U3 to U18 players (see age chart below).

Discounts

  • A family discount is provided to families with three or more children enrolled in KYSA’s Community Spring League and/or Select Program. The discount is 10% off of each child’s registration.

Financial Support

  • Financial Support is available through KidSport, Jump Start and KYSA’s Hardship fund. For more information, click here.

Program Pricing:

All registrations subject to:
– BC Soccer Insurance Fee (U3 to U10 = $21, U11 to U18 = $34): An annual fee required of every player registered to BC Soccer. 
– KYSA Membership Admin Fee ($5): An annual member surcharge to invest in admin support for the programming and registration software provided through Power Up.
– Facilities Improvement Fee ($5): An annual member surcharge to offset the facility maintenance costs and allow for investment in improvements to the KYSA owned and operated Soccer Dome.
***Credit Card payments are subject to a 3.25% + $1.50 surcharge.  Registration fees can be etransferred at no additional charge to acct@kysa.net once registered in TeamSnap.  When etransferring be sure to note your child’s full name.***

U3/4/5 Initiation Program

Program Goals
Through fun games and activities your child will learn the basics of dribbling, running, competing, scoring goals, sharing, celebrating and sportsmanship.  This supportive environment will grow a love of soccer with participants gaining a greater confidence in their abilities as young athletes and soccer players over the course of the season.

Parent Participation: This is a parent participation program.  Parents must be able and willing to participate with their child.  In some instances older siblings may take on the role of the parent HOWEVER they must be mature enough to do so in a responsible fashion and be able to manage the behaviour of their sibling. 

NOTE Re. U5s: Parents have the choice to place their child in the U3/4/5 program or the U5/6/7 program.  Your decision will depend on the physical and psychological maturity of your child, their general coordination, and their readiness for a more or less competitive environment. Program Details:

    • Eight (8) week program - starts the week of April 22 / ends the week of June 17
    • One practice/play session per week of 30 minutes duration
    • Your Choice of practice day/time/location (per the schedule below)
    • All sessions led by KYSA Instructors
    • Parent participation is required
    • Jersey, shorts, socks, and mini soccer ball included with registration

U5/6/7 Initiation Program

Program Goals

Through fun games and activities your child will advance the basic skills of dribbling, passing, defending, scoring goals, and physical literacy along with learning the basics of teamwork, competition, and sportsmanship.  Participants will also gain greater confidence in their abilities as young athletes and soccer players over the course of the season.

NOTE Re. U5s: Parents have the choice to place their child in the U5/6/7 program or the U3/4/5 program.  Your decision will depend on the physical and psychological maturity of your child, their general coordination, and their readiness for a more or less competitive environment. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: This program relies on parent volunteers who will operate under the guidance of experienced KYSA Instructors.  Volunteers will act as coaching assistants and game facilitators and rely on the KYSA Instructor for practice planning and technical expertise.  Volunteering is an excellent opportunity to prepare for team coaching at the U8 and older age groups. Training, education, and other support are provided for volunteers.

Program Details

      • All sessions led by KYSA Instructors with support from volunteer parent assistants
      • Eight (8) week program - starts the week of April 22 / ends the week of June 17
      • One 45 min practice/play session per week AND one 50 min game session per week (2v2 - 3v3 format).
      • Your choice of practice day/time/location (per the schedule below)
      • All games are on Saturdays and scheduled based on your chosen practice location and time.
      • Parent or guardian must remain present at all times
      • Jersey, shorts and socks included with registration

U8 to U13 Community Spring League

Program Goals

To provide an enjoyable, competitive and fair experience/environment for every participant by ensuring that safety, organization, structure and fun/enjoyment exists for both players and coaches.  The environment created will provide an opportunity for players to develop technically, tactically, physically and mentally.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: This program relies on the support of volunteer coaches and managers.  Parents interested in supporting the program are strongly encouraged to volunteer.  Volunteers are provided with mentorship, training, education, and other supports throughout the season.  Contact office@kysa.net for more information. 

Program Details

      • Professional oversight and support from the KYSA office
      • Community based teams with volunteer coaches (per our player placement policy) 
      • No scores or standings are kept per Canada Soccer Guidelines
      • Twelve (12) week season with 12 to 14 competitive games - April/May/June
      • One volunteer coach led practice per week (schedule determined by coach)
      • One volunteer coach led game per week (scheduled per below)
      • Participation in the KYSA Ice-Breaker Jamboree (April 20/21)
      • Participation in the Errol Wild Memorial Wrap-up Festival (June 22/23)

U14/15 & U16/17/18 Community Spring League

To provide an enjoyable, competitive and fair experience/environment for every participant by ensuring that safety, organization, structure and fun/enjoyment exists for both players and coaches.  The environment created will provide an opportunity for players to develop technically, tactically, physically and mentally.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: This program relies on the support of volunteer coaches and managers.  Parents interested in supporting the program are strongly encouraged to volunteer.  Volunteer are provided with mentorship, training, education, and other supports throughout the season.  Contact office@kysa.net for more information. 

Program Details

      • Professional oversight and support from KYSA office
      • Community based teams with volunteer coaches (per our placement policy)
      • Scores, Standings and Discipline are tracked
      • Weekly practices scheduled at the discretion of the team coach
      • One game per week in Apr/May/Jun (per schedule below)
      • Participation in the Mike Bartram Memorial Tournament
      • Participation in the KYSA Spring League Playoffs
      • Three divisions - U14/15 Boys, U14/15 Girls & U16-18 CoEd
      • Twelve (12) week program with 12+ competitive games
      • Game format will be 8v8 or 11v11 for U14/15 and 5v5 or 7v7 for U16/17/18 CoEd (based on registration numbers)
      • Players will be distributed evenly across teams to create an even blend of younger/older participants (as well as male/female balance for U16+ CoEd teams) while respecting previous teams, area of town, and personal requests as best as possible.

U16/17/18 Travel & Tournament Team

Program Goals

To provide interested community participants the opportunity to compete in gender specific 11v11 games with other teams across the Thompson Okanagan and interior regions through exhibition games or tournament play in April, May, and June.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: This program relies on the support of volunteer coaches and managers.  Parents interested in supporting the program are strongly encouraged to volunteer.  Volunteers are provided with mentorship, training, education, and other supports throughout the season.  Contact office@kysa.net for more information. 

Program Details

      • Professional training through the KYSA Spring Academy on Fridays in April, May, June.
      • All game play is led by volunteer coaches.
      • 4+ Exhibition games to be scheduled through April, May, and June - travel outside of Kamloops will be required
      • 2 Tournaments requiring travel outside of Kamloops are targeted for the May Long & Canada Day Weekends.
      • One team per gender - MAX of 18 players per team (decided on a first come first served basis).
      • Additional practices may occur at the discretion of the team coach.
      • Registration fees cover costs associated with all practices and exhibition games.  Tournament entry fees and associated costs at an additional expense.
