| ~ HARDSHIP SOURCES ~
In every community across British Columbia kids want a chance to play sport. Unfortunately, some families simply cannot afford the registration fees for their child to play organized sport.
The benefits of sport participation are well documented. Playing soccer supports the development of self-esteem, community engagement, confidence, leadership and teamwork skills.
Parents of children seeking financial assistance to cover soccer registration fees should contact the following agencies:
1. Sport BC “Kid’s Sport” Fund www.kidsportcanada.ca (Find a Chapter–BC)
2. Let Kids Play Foundation www.letkidsplay.ca • If the above-noted agencies will not provide a grant to cover a child’s registration fee, a third option is to apply to the Kamloops Youth Soccer Association’s Hardship Fund. However, the KYSA will not provide assistance unless the applicant has been refused by both of the two organizations listed above.
Through the KYSA Hardship Fund, families dealing with financial difficulties have one less expense to worry about; they can ensure their kids have an even playing field when it comes to accessibility to the great game of soccer. That’s why the KYSA’s Hardship Fund was started, and that’s why funds are continually made available to ensure everyone who wants to play, can!
GENERAL HARDSHIP FUND APPLICATION GUIDELINES: • Parents of children up to 18 years-of-age are eligible to apply for a grant. • Grants of up to $200 are available to cover soccer registration fees or related expenses. • The cost of equipment, travel, and soccer school enrollment fees are not eligible expenses. • Only one application per calendar year will be accepted for each child.
